Located just twenty miles from downtown Houston, you will find a huge 42-acre amusement park that offers somewhat of a small town feel. This is pretty amazing considering the actual size of the place. This is the Kemah Boardwalk and it has been open since 1997.
There really are tons of different reasons that the attraction receives over three million visitors every year. However, before you embark on such a journey to one of the most exciting theme parks in the world there are some things that you will need to know ahead of time.
The Best Time To Go
One of the best things about the Kemah Boardwalk is that it is pleasant to visit any time of the year. This is even true during those brutal Houston summer months. And, that is because the amusement park is home to a variety of cooling zones.
Cooling zones are tents with mist and shade so that visitors can take a break before going on about their day. However, it should be noted that on different days and during different times of the year there will be different events and attractions available.

For instance, on Friday night during the summer, you can get a glimpse of a huge firework show. Other events are Salsa Sunday’s, Kids Krazy Mondays, and the Tribute Band Tuesday’s is certainly worth checking out.
What To Do There
There is no shortage of activities at the Kemah Boardwalk for children and adults of all ages. Of course, the ride and the Ferris wheel along with the double-decker carousel will certainly be worth checking out. The balloon wheel ride and jungle bouncer are extremely popular choices amongst the younger crowd. However, if you are looking for something a little more extreme, you might want to opt for the high-speed wooden roller coaster known as the bullet.
